The cutting of osiers for the production of baskets, and other scenes around Ely.

The film begins with scenes showing a group of men cutting osiers by sickle. There are close up shots of some of the men. The osiers are strapped on their backs and then carried away. the next shot shows the osiers being sorted and stored in a yard. Making A Basket. This sequence shows Bert Hunt demonstrating basket making. He makes the base first and the builds up the sides of the basket. He tidies the top and then shows the completed product to the camera.The next scenes are of the exterior of Burrows newsagents on Ely High Street. People go in and out and there are some bicycles parked. A shop assistant removes a bill board from outside the shop. This was advertising Ely City Football Club's Grand Opening Dance on Friday, October 3rd.The next scenes are family scenes. An elderly couple stand laughing and talking. A car enters the yard and people alight. There is a brief scene showing a small girl fishing in the river.There are aerial views of Ely showing the Octagon Tower of Ely Cathedral and views of the town. The final, brief scene shows baskets being removed from a loft.
