Bridge rebuilding near the Colchester railway station.

The film begins showing an electric train entering Colchester Station. There is a brief shot of the interior of the train and then shots of the construction site from the train window. A shot of the bridge from ground level, shows a train passing over it as a bus passes under it. From Colchester Station, there is a shot down onto traffic and construction works. A shot of the electronic notice boards on the station shows the contingency plans for the shutdown necessitated by the rebuilding programme. The rest of the film shows the construction work. There is a shot of the road closed with people looking on. There are shots of the work in progress, many of these taken at night. These do not work in themselves, but do serve to show the conditions under which the civil engineers worked. There is a shot of the Colchester Express showing the headline Colchester Christmas Shutdown and further shots of the building works. With the bridge open once again, a train passes over it as a bus passes under.
