The Heathfield Circle preparing their entry for the Chelmsford Carnival Procession. This is built on a van that stands in a suburban drive. Shots of a team decorating the float and then of people getting into costume. The completed float, showing it to be on the theme of Bill And Ben. There is a black and white still of the float. The next scenes show the floats assembled and being surveyed by the judges. The Heathfield Circle float is filmed with its certificate for first prize pinned to the side. Shots of the Procession itself. There is a Carnival Queen, people in fancy dress, and bands marching. More unusually, a man rides a unicycle, there is a horse-drawn dray and a display of majorettes, who do not appear to be the Dagenham Girl Pipers. The Heathfield Circle entry features. The final sequence intercuts scenes of the evening funfair with scenes of prize winners receiving their prizes. The film ends with a static shot of the trophy won by the Heathfield Circle.
