A film showing the importance of local archival film shows at the Mayfair cinema, Bungay.

This film opens with an exterior shot of the Mayfair Cinema, Bungay. This was taken in the evening. There is a close-up shot of a poster advertising the film currently running, 'Whilst You Were Sleeping' starring Sandra Bullock. A hand written notice announces that there is no show on 1st October. A notice inside announces a Film Archive Show given by the East Anglian Film Archive. There are interior shots that are very dark. At the end one can make out a projector turning.

Background Information

This very short piece of film records one of the important functions of the East Anglian Film Archive; making films accessible through a programme of local film shows. The Mayfair Cinema opened in Broad Street, Bungay in 1937.
