Armstrong Whitworth Aeroplane
c. 1920 , Norwich (Norfolk)
Cat no. 1032
Footage of an early Armstrong Whitworth plane with a pilot and two passengers.
A man and a woman stand in front of the plane and are joined by another man. A third man, in aviator's head gear, arrives and shakes hands. The plane's double wings are revealed. There is a camouflaged building and a similar plane in the background. A ladder is brought, and the aviator climbs into the rear of the cockpit, followed by the woman. The pilot climbs into the front of the cockpit, the propellor is turned, and the plane moves off. The film is reversed. The letters on the front of the plane read WA, and more obviously on the tail, read H447 in reverse. The Armstrong Whitworth logo is also on the tail.
