'There we meet the marshman harvesting the reeds'. The marshman sharpens his scythe as a girl watches. He cuts the reeds and makes them into a bundle. 'Protection against the floods whilst growing, they are used for thatching, and for musical instruments, when harvested.' The bundles are loaded onto a reed lighter which is pulled by the girls.
