Educational film about the Norfolk coastline focussing on the problems of erosion.

A map of Great Britain, showing Norfolk. Then, views of Cromer beach, Bacton gas terminal, a Norfolk Line container cargo ship and the pub sign for the Lord Nelson at Burnham Thorpe. A sequence illustrates the different types of sea shore: cliffs, shingle, sand dunes. There are contrasting scenes of a calm and a stormy sea. The sea wall at Sheringham is featured and then aerial views of the coast between Sheringham and Mundesley. There are scenes of cliff erosion, land slips and road damage. Methods of protecting cliffs are illustrated by the groynes on Cromer beach. An animated sequence describes longshore drift. The North Norfolk steam railway is featured and the Sheringham golf course. At Blakeney Point there are aerial views of the spit, the salt marshes and the flora including samphire, sea lavender and sea aster. Shelduck can be seen feeding. In Blakeney village, a marker shows the flood level. There are aerial views of the coast between Sea Palling and Caister. The importance of sand dunes is illustrated by the growing of marram grass and a bulldozer contructing dunes. Finally, there is a review of the type of coastline found in North Norfolk.
