The education system is illustrated by the teaching of domestic science, a school play rehearsal, examinations and general classroom scenes. At Brightlingsea, the children measure log speed of a boat. A class works with computers. Other school projects are featured, including language teaching. There is a fire tender and associated equipment, and classes in art and craft, engineering and cookery. At Colchester, there are scenes of the East Anglian Examinations Board post room and office. The boy at the beginning of the film decides on what he will do when he leaves school. He goes for an interview and gets the job.
