The day after the high spring tide fatefully coincided with a sea surge in 1953, an amateur filmmaker recorded the flood scenes in Burnham-on-Crouch.

General scenes of flooding at Burnham-on-Crouch. A man and his dog walk along a flooded street. In the high level flood water, people get around in a rowing boat. Men repair the sea wall, sandbags are placed by doorways. There is a close-up of vegetation damaged by flood water. A line of men, including members of the emergency services, carry sandbags up from the beach. There are views of boats in the port and people are rowed out to a building which may be a school. Views of a football pitch reveal the goal posts half submerged. There are further scenes of boats in the port and damage to sea defences. People walk in a flooded street. A long range view shows a breach in the sea wall. Fishing boats put out to sea. The final scenes are filmed from a moving vehicle.
