The manufacturing processes of celluloid, rexine and PVC at the Wardle Storey plastic factory at Brantham, Suffolk.

General views of the factory as a freight train passes along the railway line. The line also passes through the factory site. There are shots of lorry entering the factory premises and of the offices. The film is narrated by Malcolm Clark, the Manager of Special Products, who is filmed in his office. There are shots of the factory site and industrial landscape, including some of the original tracks in the yard. Shows the manufacturing processes of celluloid in detail, from the ingredients to the finished product. The ingredients are mixed. The Wardle Storey factory is using the original mixers. The mixture is forced through a gauze at high pressure and emerges looking like spaghetti. It is rolled into sheets and then block pressed. There are shots of the original hydraulic pumps used in this process. General factory shots show the storage racks before the final pressing. The commentary explains some of the use of the product. The film shows the manufacture of rexine, a nitro-cellulose coating on cloth. This is used in the book binding business and was used for making British blue passports. There are shots of the fire service on an exercise at the factory. The manufacture of PVC sheets and extruded polypropylene sheeting is shown. An operator watches a monitor over a machine to check on the process. There is a shot of the control panel and an exterior view of the boiler house and chimney. This is soon to be replaced by a gas fired boiler.
