It's A Bike
1983 , Yaxley (Suffolk)
Cat no. 989
A drama aimed at young cyclists to encourage road safety and bicycle maintenance.
Two comic thieves follow a cyclist and steal parts of his bike. A cyclist from the past shows off his 'hobby 'oss' and helps the cyclist recover the stolen parts of his bike. The re-assembly of the bike illustrates how a bike is put together and is adjusted for safe riding. The cyclist from the past shows off a 'boneshaker' and early safety bicycles. The narrator sings about how to ride a bike safely. A disaster scene illustrates the importance of brakes and how they are adjusted. There are examples of bikes used by people in their jobs. The importance of tyre pressure, reflectors and clear hand signalling is emphasised.
