Amateur footage of Great Yarmouth which compares the present port with illustrations from the past, depicting its fishing industry, market stalls and wildlife of nearby Berney Marshes.

18th and 19th century illustrations of Yarmouth and then a mixture of scenes around the town: the Mayor at a municipal ceremony, The Rows, building work, drifters, a sailing barge, steam tugs, fishermen mending nets, unloading the catch and fish being packed. On the marshes there is a man cutting reeds, then scenes of cattle, horses, birds' nests, pigs, bundles of cut reeds, a gypsy caravan with children and snow scenes. The market is featured: a man eating jellied eels, a hot pea stall, stalls selling crabs, cockles and shrimps and stalls selling flowers, vegetables and poultry. At a fun fair, the amusements are depicted. After a view of Sewell House there is a church yard with daffodils and rooks in the trees.
