Bright and colourful record of a family holiday in West Mersea filmed by Leslie Gillham of Hornchurch.

The Gillham family holiday film opens with views of the hard and beach at West Mersea. There are various boats, some being repaired by their owners. Next, the Gillham's caravan and scenes of the children and Mrs Gillham playing on the saltings and bathing. There are general views of the village, its street decorations and the saltings. Children play with a model boat and there are other family activities. There is a field of stooked corn and a drag line machine in a sand pit. There are more general scenes of the family, village and boats, including a sequence on the beach where the children hunt for crabs. Back at the caravan lunch is prepared while the rest of the family and friends play at the waters edge. With other friends, the boys fish in a creek. A Land Rover tows the caravan away after briefly getting stuck at the campsite. Mr. and Mrs. Gillham and children sail in a dinghy. There are shots of the Peldon Rose pub in Colchester, the Moot Hall and Aldeburgh beach in Suffolk. The film ends with fireworks.
