A local record of the expansion of Thetford beginning with views of new houses under construction on Redcastle Road, factory and industrial sites, Priory Park, the old workhouse, some of the new houses at Nunn's Gate and views of Spring Walk and the river. Shots of Melford Bridge on the River Thet, Bridge Street, the Burrel plaque, the statue of Thomas Paine and King Street. Public houses featured include: The Green Dragon, The Angel, Black Horse, The Ark, Bell Hotel, Anchor Hotel, The Albion, The Bridge, Dolphin, Trowel and Hammer and The Railway. There are shots of hop chimneys, the town cage and the Palace Cinema, and also of of the railway station, Castle Park and St. Mary's church. The film captures the town at night and also after a snow fall, ending with a close-up of Thetford's traditional town sign.
