Local newsreel, filmed by Thetford cinema owner Ben Culey, features the Palace Cinema staff, Barnham fetes, Thetford Town football team, a sports day and a parade.
The newsreel is made up as follows: Mr Culey's cinema staff pose for the camera on a staff outing to Hunstanton. The Barnham fete. Thetford Town football team and a match. The Thursday team on the recreation ground and then scenes of a match, after which the Thursday team line up for the camera. A sports day on Empire Day at the recreation ground includes fun sports. Miss Schickel, a school teacher, stands by with a tray and teapot. A parade consists of firemen, the Corporation, a Salvation Army band, Boy Scouts and the Red Cross, after which is a service in aid of hospital funds in Castle park. Thetford postman, Mr George Chaston approaches the camera, on top of Castle Hill, with a collection box. Barnham fete again, this time held in a garden - possibly that of Brandon House; spectators look towards the camera. Then, Brandon Brownies and Guides, a military band, children dancing and spectators. In Thetford, St Peter's church and the Bell Hotel. Further scenes at Barnham feature a van with a huge loudspeaker horn advertising the 'Castaphone Sound System'. There are more spectators and some of the stalls.
