Promotional film, made for the London, Midland and Scottish Railway, advertising the diverse leisure activities on offer at the holiday resort of Southend-on-Sea.

A trip around the town takes in the boating lake, the station, the beach, pleasure boats departing for sea trips, the Boulevard tramway, huts on the promenade at Shoeburyness and Thorpe Bay, scenes at Westcliff, the children's playground near the pier, the pier railway and anglers. The home fleet pays a visit, and the Royal Eagle paddle steamer is at the end of the pier. Speedboats, The Swift and The New Flyer, feature and the town's lifeboat, Greater London, is launched. Yachts, including the J-Class boats Astra, Endeavour II and Velsheda, take part in the June yachting week. At the Pavilion, there is dancing and a band. The Carnival Queen meets the Mayor and a fancy dress parade includes a float appealing for money for a local hospital. There are scenes at Priory Park and on the Kursaal, including the stalls and famous water chute. An army band plays in the bandstand, children play on the beach and people enjoy the seawater baths. There are views of the garden on the west esplanade. Holidaymakers are in deckchairs and pepople are paddling. At a Yorkshire v. Essex cricket match at Chalkwell park, J. W. A. Stephenson is bowling, then Sutcliffe of Yorkshire bats against Nichols. Bowling greens, the illuminations and scenes of boats at night complete the film.
