Promotional film for the holiday resort of Southend-on-Sea.

Views of a cruise ship, steam train and the resort of Southend itself, including holidaymakers, the pier with its electric railway, anglers and cruise ships at its end, the pier orchestra and the interior of restaurants and cafes. Next, the cliff gardens, crowded beaches, beach huts, sailing boats. At the Westcliff open air pool there is synchronised swimming or 'water ballet', and the 'Miss Lovely' beauty competition. There are views of the children's playground with fairground amusements and shots of the Kursaal. Scenes of the parade of floats in Southend Carnival, including the Carnival queen, followed by bowls, putting, tennis, cricket and other recreational activity. After views of the parks, and a shot of a floral clock, the film ends with a night sequence of the town's illuminations, including one celebrating the coronation.
