Wright Cooper Ltd Staff Outing To Southend

1948 , Southend-on-Sea (Essex)

A works day out to the seaside is filmed to provide entertainment for the staff at a later occasion.

The staff get into a coach and, as it leaves, there are views of the factory and nearby streets. Half way to Southend, they stop for beer and a dance while someone plays the accordion. At Southend there are scenes on the pier and fun and games on the Kursaal. The camera films from the electric train as it travels along, as well as from the various rides, including the Cyclone roller coaster. There are high angle views of the rides and the fairground. The coach leaves, and half way home they stop for another 'knees up'. Finally, there are more street scenes near the factory.
