A newsreel featuring the new village of Silver End, a vision of Francis Crittall to create ideal living conditions for his factory workers and their families.

A cottage stands by a pond or stream, chickens root around outside and there is a pony trap parked to the side. There are other cottages, some thatched, then an art deco style building. Homes in this design are also shown. Demonstrating that the changes extend to the farmyard, there are exterior and interior views of a pig sty and a cow is cleaned using a hand vacuum device. A modern school building features with children playing outside. People can be seen working inside the building through a large window on the right of the picture. The final scene shows the children playing by the river.

To the old villagers, ancient notions of houses seemed to have gone wrong. Even the pig-sties changed. Cows were vacuum cleaned! And in less than four years, Silver End has been born again - the newest of the new.
