Excerpt from a Gaumont Graphic newsreel featuring Queen Alexandra, the Queen Mother, unveiling a memorial to Edith Cavell.
Queen Alexandra in Norwich to unveil a memorial to Nurse Edith Cavell on October 12th, 1918. Queen Alexandra appears on the dais along with a party of dignitaries and guests, and a speech is made by Sir George Chamberlin, Lord Mayor of Norwich. The Queen removes a white sheet to unveil the bust statue and memorial to Cavell, a nurse and humanitarian from Norfolk who was court-martialled and shot by firing squad in German-occupied Belgium in 1915.
