A promotional film for the year round usage of Ransomes agricultural machinery

A farming year viewed through Ransomes' comprehensive range of agricultural machinery in seasonal Suffolk. During Autumn, the harvest is over and ploughing is in full swing. Heavy and light subsoilers are shown at work, followed by the spinner lifting potatoes in the Fens. A range of ploughs is introduced, from the single furrow deep digger to the five furrow semi-mounted and the heavier trailed ploughs. Next, harrows work, followed by the Dumfries and Kirkcudbrightshire Ploughing Match. The seasons change and with the Spring the reversible plough begins its work. Lambing time is here and the fields are being ridged for early potatoes and then covered by the same toolbar. A transport box helps around the farm. March winds are followed by April showers, and two powerful Hexatric ploughs turn over ten furrows at one sweep of the Wiltshire Downs. The farm trailer proves its usefulness and the Spring-time harrow and Cambridge roll are busy. Double-tandem disc harrows and toolbars help. A pause is made to watch a steam traction engine rally and a demonstration of steam cultivation is recorded for prosperity. Gang mowing is carried out amongst the blossom-covered orchards of Kent while in Western Scotland the Galloway herds and border sheep are being clipped. Arable farming in the fertile valleys makes use of toolbars and the busy mower cuts a heavy crop of clover and rye grass. On marginal land the Rotary Slasher clears hitherto unproductive land while potatoes are being scuffled, and spraying is in progress on sugar beet. The steerage hoe is still in use. Harvest comes and the massive 902 combine is busy in the fields while the grain drier plays its final part in the farming cycle.
