The Harwich Train Ferry

The Harwich to Zeebrugge train ferry service is filmed on one of the ferries during a crossing.

Opening with a clip from Alfred Hitchcock's "No.17" which features the ferry, the film illustrates the Harwich to Zeebrugge service. On board the Sealink ferry, MV Cambridge, bosun Charlie Mudd is at the wheel; he describes his job. The captain talks about piloting the vessel. Railway wagons are loaded and the ferry leaves harbour, passing the "Vanguard," the other train ferry, as she returns from Zeebrugge. The engineer discusses the ship's engines. Archive film of the opening of the ferry service in 1924 is followed by the current service arriving in Harwich, docking and unloading cargo.
