The effect of the floods of March 1937 at Ely and the fens north of Ely.

The film begins with shots of the flooded River Great Ouse and the marina at Ely, taken from a moving train. The Cathedral is in the background. The train continues. There are shots of flood water to the north of Ely along the Ely to Kings Lynn railway line. As the train passes over a level crossing, farm workers pause to wave. There is a shot of the steam train as it passes slowly through the flood. There are shots of men adding sand bags to the railway embankment and a shot of a collapsed bridge. There is a shot of servicemen with spades before a shot of a cottage standing in the flood. The inhabitants leave in a punt, via the window. An interior shot shows the water inside. The final shot is of the punt taking a woman and two children to safety.
