A film promoting the seaside town of Cromer, in Norfolk.
A film promoting all aspects of Cromer: its popularity as a seaside resort; its famous lifeboat; its connection with other nearby historic towns in Norfolk; its thriving local community. Views of Cromer include the promenade, pier and beach, the model boating lake, the sunken gardens, putting greens, bowls greens, tennis courts and, next to the golf course, the Cromer lighthouse. Later, there are shots of the East Runton caravan park. The No.1 Lifeboat, the Henry Blogg, is launched from the pier with coxswain Henry Davies, nephew of Henry Blogg. Views of the surrounding area include Castle Acre Priory and Blakeney Point. Scenes around Norwich show Pulls Ferry, the Cathedral, The Guildhall and Elm Hill. There are shots of the Broads at Hoveton. In Cromer, the annual Waiters' Race around the Church, the carnival procession, and the crowning of the Carnival Queen by Bernie Winters, is featured. The resident comic, Alfie, does a turn on the pier. The final shots are of the beach and pier at sunset.
