Television documentary on the controversial proposals to site a nuclear waste site near an Essex village.

The villagers of Bradwell-on-Sea comment on the proposals to site a nuclear waste repository near their village. There are scenes of the campaign gathering momentum around the village. From the top of the church tower, the Vicar, Mr. Paul Booth explains that there was no prior consultation and thinks that this accounts for the anger felt in the village. Local industry spokesmen talk of the damage the nuclear dump will do to their trade. The Workers' Education Group outline the nuclear history of the area, including the welcomed siting of a nuclear power station near the village in the 1950s. There are public meetings in the school, in the village hall and in a local council house, as well as various protests. There is part of a debate featuring John Wakeham, government minister and local MP. Jonathon Porrit of Greenpeace talks to the press. Friends of the Earth and NIREX representatives appear on a Radio Essex discussion programme. NIREX holds a public meeting in the school hall with heated argument. The film ends as villagers sing 'Jerusalem' in the local church.
