The town of Sudbury celebrates the Silver Jubilee Of King George V And Queen Mary. May 6th 1935.
The Mayoral party leads the procession to St. Peter's Church for the thanksgiving service. Most of the early groups in the procession, male and female, are dressed in civilian clothes. Several of this group wear medals. A car passes the procession in contraflow. There are detachments of women wearing uniform, possibly WRVS volunteers, and a detachment from the navy. Outside the Town Hall, the Town Clerk, T. Miles Braithwaite, reads the loyal address whilst the Mayor watches. There are interior scenes of the Mayor lunching with the old people of Sudbury, where he gives a speech. This is followed by a procession to a Country Fair. This is led by a band and shows scenes of the decorated streets of Sudbury. These are nearly deserted; there are a few people and cars there. At the fair there are gallopers and fair ground rides, a ventriloquists act, girls skipping and a Punch and Judy show. There is also a fancy dress parade for the children. There are further street scenes of Sudbury and then a Jubilee parade through the streets. There are people on foot in fancy dress, lorry drawn floats and decorated cars. At the end of the film there is a shot of the Carnival Prizes and trophies.
