Reeds and a demonstration of reed cutting.
Unedited rushes from the BBC East series `Outlook'. These shots begin by showing a steam dredger at work, ladling mud into a motor wherry. There is a close-up and a long-shot of a wherry moored at Potter Heigham. There are shots of motor cruiser on the Broads and then a sequence showing reeds. These are filmed in the river and on the banks. They are cut by hand, gathered up and then taken away by rowing boats. There is a shot of the Barton Angler Public House and various river views, some of which are shot from a moving boat. In this sequence there is featured a long shot of a reed cutter, cutting reeds by hand. The reed cutter is interviewed by Ralph Tuck whilst rowing a boat. Some of these scenes show the boat stationary whilst he goes through the motions of rowing. There are shots of sailing cruiser and of wildfowl, including swans, grebe and coots. Finally the boat passes under Wroxham Bridge
