The Essex Youth Orchestra in performance.
A BBC Schools film, one of a series of five, that shows a studio performance by the Essex Youth Orchestra. Raymond Leppard, the conductor, introduces the programme and the individual pieces of music. The film shows the orchestra playing and includes close up shots of the musicians as well as shots of the orchestra as a whole. The Overture To `Hansel and Gretel' by Humperdinck, the Slow Movement of the `Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra' by Haydn and three pieces from `Facade' by William Walton are played. The solo in Haydn's Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra is played by William Houghton.
