Classroom and activity scenes at an Essex school.

The first sequence is shot in a mixed secondary school. All of the pupils are in school uniform. It shows a typing class with older girls. There is a mixed science lesson. Pupils use apparatus and set up experiments. A class of older boys does technical drawing and there are close up shots of one of the boys working. A younger class takes part in a more formal mixed geography lesson. There are scenes from a school sports day showing boys and girls in relay and other running races. Scenes show the exterior of the building. This is relatively modern and well cared for. There are shots showing the interior of a dark room and cricket practice. Other lesson sequences include showing boys in a woodwork lesson, iron work at a forge and a cookery lesson. The second sequence is shot in a primary school. The first scenes show children in a gym lesson. There are some good close up shots of children's faces. A play lesson is shown with children dressing up. Girls have dressed up as older women and are pushing prams with babies in them. There are scenes from a craft lesson, showing a girl cutting out pieces of material and others making a collage. In the hall, children sing and play percussion instruments accompanied by a teacher on the piano. A formal lesson in a classroom is filmed and the sequence finishes with older children doing country dancing.
