A young boy's bad dream about having a accident on his bicycle leads to some repairwork with his father the next morning.

The opening captions of this film are written with an oil can. A boy cycles along a suburban road. He meets a friend and tells him he is going to the aerodrome. He cycles on and his brakes fail as he tries to avoid a car that reverses into his path. The boy awakes in his bedroom and realises that his nightmare may become reality. He goes to the garage and checks the brakes on his bike. They don't work. He rushes indoors to fetch his father. He is eating breakfast and refuses to be rushed. However, when he does check the boy's bike he finds that not only do the brakes not work but that there are several other faults as well. The chain and a wheel are loose. He shows his son how to put these things right. He tightens the wheel nuts and then pulls the wheel back to tighten the chain. He shows his son the correct places to apply oil and then adjusts the brakes. The boy tests the bike before leaving. Dad makes sure that he has the tools he needs in his saddlebag. The film shows the boy cycling through the town, stopping at zebra crossings and in traffic generally. He arrives at the aerodrome where he meets Uncle George, an RAF officer. Uncle George shows him the controls of a meteor jet. A meteor is seen taking off as the film ends.
