The launching of Woodstar, built by the 36th Epping Forest South Sea Scout Troop.
The film begins with a lengthy introductory caption naming all involved with the project. The dinghy Woodstar has been built by the 36th Epping Forest South Sea Scout Troop and this film covers its launch. There is a sequence of a car manoeuvring into the drive of a 1930s style house and hitching onto the boat trailer, boat on board. This drives off. The next scene is at the lakeside by the Royal Wanstead School. There is a lengthy sequence showing the preparations. These are organised by the Scout Master, Ken Read. The boat is rigged and made ready for launching. The Reverend Arthur Goodwin Hudson, Vicar of All Saints, Woodford Wells, Essex, and his wife arrive by car to perform the ceremony. Mrs. Hudson breaks a small bottle over the boat and then in is launched by an elderly gentleman, presumably the Dr. Hudson of the titles. Woodstar slides in to the water, the Reverend and Mrs. Hudson on board.
