Street scenes around Tombland, Upper King Street and Castle Meadow, Norwich
A collection of everyday shots filmed in the centre of Norwich in the early 1980s. They show the people of the city and include some good traffic shots. The first shot is a zoom shot looking across from the Cathedral entrance down past Harvey's game shop towards the Maids Head Hotel. A pupil from the Norwich school is in the foreground, and The Edith Cavell on the corner of Princes' Street is visible to one side. The shot zooms back to reveal traffic, the Maids Head Hotel in the background and a motor cyclist in the foreground. The cobbles in this area show up well. Buses arrive at the bus stop. The camera swings around to look towards Upper King Street. The next shot shoots along Upper King Street towards Gurney's Bank, now part of Anglia TV. This is followed by a shot into Queen Street from Tombland. The camera swings round to film Tombland and the Erpingham Gate into the Close. The next shot shows the EAFA display in the window of the Britannia Building Society on Castle Meadow. There is a high angle shot of Castle Meadow, again offering good traffic shots. The final shots are looking up Orford Place from Castle Meadow. Marks and Spencer's and Debenhams Department Stores are in the background. As the shot zooms back, the Bell Hotel comes into view.
