Teaching people how to sail with an emphasis on how much fun can be had.

The techniques of sailing. It stresses how easy it is and how much fun people can have on a sailing holiday. There is comparatively little emphasis on Broadland scenery and locations. It begins with a family driving a large saloon car though villages and the countryside. They explain that last year they had a motoring holiday. This year they are interested in a sailing holiday. There is a shot of a Blakes advertisement and brochure. Parents and grown up children are shown in their home, these shots show a modern 1960's interior. A train arriving at Wroxham Railway Station then brings one of the family to the Broads. At Wroxham Yacht Station he begins a course in sailing. This he films with a 8 mm camera. This sequence concludes with the group outside the Swan Inn at Horning. The next sequence is back at the family home. He shows the family his film. This demonstrates sailing techniques, including using arrows to determine the wind direction. He reinforces point made using a model yacht. At the end the family are convinced. He informs them that he has already booked a yacht, Gay Lady.The final sequence of the film shows the family aboard their yachts, enjoying their holiday. They are filmed aboard and the interior of the yacht is shown. During their cruise the film offers further information on how to handle yachts in high winds, how to moor and how to get the mast down for going under Potter Heigham Bridge. They go for a drink at the Bridge Inn. Finally the two boats have a race.
