The Brancaster National Schools sailing Regatta.

At the National Schools' Sailing Regatta, held at Brancaster in 1966, contestants arrive at the Sailing Club. A Poster reads; National Schools' Sailing Regatta, Brancaster Staithe, 24 - 28 July, 1966. The contestants are filmed registering at the Alderman Peel Secondary School in Wells. The film moves to Brancaster, showing the approach to the village from a moving vehicle. A map shows Brancaster Staithe harbour and the courses. At the Staithe the contestants prepare for the event. There are interior shots of the enquires caravan. The tide comes up and sailing is underway. The radio control on the bank is filmed. The boats sailing and rounding buoys. These shots were filmed over the first three days. The weather deteriorates until on the third day, when the wing was blowing at force 6, some contestants had to be rescued.Back at the Alderman Peel Secondary School, Dr. Lincoln Ralphs, the Chief Education Officer of Norfolk and the President of the National Schools' Sailing Association, presents the prizes. Each contestant is given a commemorative mug made at a local pottery. The final day's sailing is for the Mount Heys Trophy. There are scenes of the contestants sailing Enterprise Class dinghies. The cup is presented by the commodore of the Brancaster Staithe Sailing Club. The final shots are of the contestants leaving.
