Two fishermen go out to sea and haul in Spratts.
The film begins with a close up of fishing nets on the slipway of the old Sheringham Lifeboat Station. Two fishermen, Teddy Craske and Downtide West, haul their fishing boat down the ramp to the beach. There are shots of the two of them at sea. Downtide West provides the commentary of this piece. He describes the perils of winter fishing, including the cold, but particularly fog. He tells the viewer about the two of them. Both come from fishing families. Teddy Craske's father was still fishing when he was over 80 and his own father was still fishing at 75. He himself first went to sea at 13 years of age. He explains that Teddy Craske is also the lifeboat mechanic. The two men haul in a long line of sprats. This is described by West as one of the prettiest sights you'll ever see. There are shots back to the cliffs. The two fishermen return to shore and unload their equipment. The film finishes with a long shot of West walking back up the beach soon after the tide has gone out.
