A couple embark on a holiday to the Norfolk Broads
The film begins with a shot of a breakfast table. A woman receives a letter from a friend extolling the virtues of a holiday on the Norfolk Broads with Blakes. The woman writes to Blakes who sends a catalogue. There is an overhead shot of a boat yard and a small army of women preparing the boats for the new intake of holiday makers. The boat is filled with petrol. The couple arrive by car and are taken to see their boat. There is some tuition and a test run for the woman driver to get the feel of the controls. After shots of sailing boats and general broads scenes the couple moor for the night. There are some dawn shots to indicate an early rise. The man shaves, the woman cooks breakfast and then they set off on their adventure. They go first to Malthouse Broad, where there are rowing boats as well as sailing boats. People feed the ducks and swans. From Malthouse Broad they go on to Ranworth and visit St. Helen's Church. There are exterior shots of the Church and then interior shots showing the Sarum Antiphoner. At Horning there are views from the boat as they arrive. This shows riverside dwellings, sailing boats and motor cruisers and then the Swan Hotel. At Salhouse Broad there are shots of the Broad, with swans swimming in the water. The woman goes for a swim. there are shots of a sunset to indicate the end of the day. The next sequence seeks to sell the Broads as a family holiday destination. Children are shown in rowing boats and dinghies. They swim, fish, sail and feed the swans and ducks. The film also shows the amenities in the Broads by taking a trip to Roys supermarket in Wroxham. On the way into Wroxham they film the riverside houses. Back at the boat they take tea before going to pick wild blackcurrants. The man catches fish. They visit Beccles that is filmed as it is approached from the river. These scenes show St. Michael's Church riding over the town. A montage of shots to end the film shows a field of poppies, gardens, lilies on a pond, a thatcher at work, butterflies, swans and sailing. The film ends with further sunset shots
