Comparison of two different compound fertilisers.

In this film Fison's 52 Extra-N, a compound fertiliser is compared with Nitro-Top and another high nitrogen top dressing from a rival firm. The film is shot on Fison's test farm at Levington. Three different tests are carried out at the research station; some from a stationary vehicle and some from a moving vehicle. All tests show that the Fison's Nitro-Top runs through at 2cwt per acre, the same rate as the compound, whilst the rival product runs through unevenly and too quickly. There are interior shots of the laboratory where the output of the three products is weighed. The film uses diagrams to illustrate that the compound and Nitro-Top spread within an acceptable range whereas the rival fertiliser gives a variation in coverage beyond acceptable limits. The film emphasises that Fison's Nitro-Top has been developed to suit the machines in use on farms. It also emphasises that the results can be achieved using the same setting. To use the rival fertiliser and achieve the same results the machine needs to be rebalanced. This is not a job that can be done on the farm
