Scenes from the 1938 Essex Show and the after effects of the flood on Dedham.
The film begins with a sequence featuring a family of blue tits nesting in an old pump in the garden of The Grove, Dedham. The scene switches to the ring at an Essex show. Cattle parade in the ring, marching past the camera with their stockmen. Some of them are being led by rings through their noses, others by harness. A sequence shows a riding display from the Royal Corps of Signals. This features motor cycles and horses. Various routines include trick riding, leading horses from a motor bike, horses jumping poles suspended between two motor cycles, balancing acts and some humorous scenes.The final sequence is of the flooding at Mill Lane, Dedham in 1938. A cyclist is bicycling through the water. There are shots of flooded marshes and of flood water racing through the sluice gates at the Mill
