Sailing barges on the Thames estuary.

The film features several sailing barges on the Thames estuary. The three barges featured in the main are `Veronica', `Sara', and `Sirdar'. Towards the end of the film, the barges come inland and the buildings of the port can be seen in the background. The final scene shows the barges against the mud flats.

Background Information

This was one of a number of sailing matches organised by the Thames Barge Sailing Club up until 1953. The barges Sara and Sirdar shown racing have since been broken up.
