Cat no. 108
The Norwich Carnival, 1931.
Scenes of the Carnival procession passing the Regent Cinema (now the ABC) on Prince of Wales Road. The Carnival is led by a brass band and includes many people, adults and children, in fancy dress. There are floats that depict fishermen from the Norfolk coast and many depict hospital scenes. Pedestrians in the procession include one person dressed as Snap the Dragon. The next sequence is shot from opposite the Royal Hotel on Bank Plain. The Salvation Army band marches by. Horse-drawn floats are shown, along with the Carnival Queen, Wedgwood girls and decorated cars. Outside the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital the winners of the Carnival classes receive their prizes. The final shots are of the fairground in Earlham Park. These scenes include chair-o-planes, dodgems, swing boats and indoor attractions. There is also a game of push ball.
