A group of young men have a holiday on the Broads
An amateur film showing a lads' outing on the Broads. The film shows them drinking ale outside public houses and pulling faces for the camera. This is how the film begins, followed by shots from a moving boat showing a rowing boat and sailing boats. Then the group are shown catching a bus. Pub garden scenes follow once again, this time with one of the crew wearing a sweater with the name of the boat, 'The Enchantress'. 'The Enchantress' is then shown on a broad, possibly Wroxham, moving around slowly. Passengers are sitting on the top deck. Finally the lads are shown playing cricket with a shovel outside the Queen's Head Hotel in Acle High Street.

At the time, mixed parties would not have been allowed - unless they were family parties. `The Enchantress' was a handsome motor cruiser fitted throughout in teak. She was built at Twickenham in 1898, but soon came to the broads. Later she was put into the hire fleet of Robinsons Yard at Oulton Broad. In the 1934 catalogue she was described as a luxurious craft with new 30-40 H.P. engines. (She was electronically powered). The description continues: "Large kitchen well equipped with stoves, oven, pantry, etc. Exceptional upper deck room, which is ideal for sitting out. Wicker arm chairs and tables are provided for having tea on the upper deck. Beds fitted with Vi-spring mattresses and down pillows and very comfortable. Electric light throughout. Large sliding Windows, mosquito nets for night. Electric bells from saloon and all cabins to steward's quarters. Completely fitted with everything of first class quality for living and sleeping on board, except towels. Crew - two in number - skilled engineer acting as skipper, and steward who attends to all cooking. Large new mahogany Centre board Sailing Dinghy.
