Armistice Day in Ipswich, Suffolk, 1927
A local newsreel type film of The Armistice Day Anniversary Service in Ipswich in 1927. The film begins with the Mayor, Mr. W. Rowley Elliston, and other civic and Church dignitaries of many denominations descending the steps of the Town Hall. Cornhill is shown crowded. The film shows a glimpse of the minute silence and a brief service. The scene moves to the War Memorial in the park where wreathes are laid, one by the local constabulary and one by a Churchman, possibly a Bishop. Buglers sound the last post. The procession passes on its way out of the park and the film ends with general crowd scenes.
