Village and country scenes in Essex and Suffolk.

A film with good views of town and countryside. Many of the shots include traffic, including a bus and a motorcycle. 1) General snow scenes around Colchester in 1938. 2) Spring in Suffolk 1934. Views of blossom, sheep and lambs. 3) Kersey. Various spring time scenes followed by shots of the village, including the ford. Kersey Parish Church is visible in the background. 4) Polstead. Reflections in the village pond on a calm day, then sheep and general views of the village. 5) Woman and children walking in Bridge End Garden, Saffron Walden. 6) Saffron Walden. Views of the church and ancient houses, showing the pargetting on the exterior of buildings. 7) Agricultural Machinery. This shows a very large, self propelled cultivator, apparently being demonstrated. It is track driven, with a single front wheel, and rotary motion hoe blades at the rear. 8) The Old Guildhall, Thaxted. A general view of the square, with the Hall in the background and cars passing by. This is followed by a shot of a disused windmill with a line of men and women with linked arms approaching the camera. 9) The revival of spinning, Thaxted. A man is spinning using a manual spinning wheel in front of a cottage. 10) East Bergholt. An evening drive down tunnel lane, followed by views of Flatford Mill. 11) Boating on the Stour near Dedham. The meadows in the background are flooded. 12) Dedham Bridge and Mill. Winter scenes of a canoe outside a boathouse and on the river, followed by a distant shot of the mill. 13) Dedham. Shots of the old Flemish Houses.
