The Royal Show, Cambridge 1951.

Aerial shots of the 150 acre site and a description of the history and objectives of the four day show. The opening ceremony, involving local dignitaries, the Queen and officers of the society takes place at the Royal Pavilion, dating back to 1886. The Queen tours the flower show, presenting prizes to livestock winners and presenting long service medals to farm workers. A detailed account of the livestock judging follows, taking the viewer through many different breeds of sheep, pigs, horses and cattle. This is followed by the prizegiving and the parade of prize winners. Other ring events are highlighted, including the heavy and light horses, pit ponies, show jumping (although no names of individual competitors are mentioned), beagles, and sheep dog trials.The machinery at the show is detailed, both current machinery and an exhibition of old machinery. Country crafts are filmed, including forestry, coopering, beekeeping, blacksmiths and embroidery. The film concludes with shots of the Queen and other members of the Royal Family leaving in their limousine.
