BBC Look East news report from the working area of Felixstowe Docks where a film, warning of occupational hazards, was shot in winter. The referenced film highlights the dangers of the workplace, particularly during dark winter nights. No sequences from the new film are shown. A woman reporter speaks to camera as a container vehicle rumbles past. A man explains that Felixstowe was an ideal place to make such a film because they operate the whole range of dock operations: roll on, roll off, container handling, general cargo and an oil berth. The film shows real dock workers and tells the true story of a man who was crushed to death, and the experience of two women who lost their husbands in accidents at the docks. A man talks about the difficult decision whether to include the bereaved women in the film, and stresses that the people who took part really do the job. His hard hat has the name F. Keedle, likely to be Frederick (Fred) Keedle, Chief Safety Officer, Felixstowe Dock and Railway Company. A group of five dock men who took part in the film reflect on their feelings about it. One thinks the dangers were perhaps underplayed, and two say they were scared by the film but the dangerous nature of the work is an occupational hazard.
