1974 - 1978 , Bedford (Bedfordshire)

18 year old Jon Coley and friends star in this showreel of cleverly choreographed stuntman action, 1974-1978.

An edited showreel of stunts, performed by teenagers, typical of a modern action movie. The filmmaker and his co-stars throw themselves out of windows, down stairs and embankments, over fences, and purposefully fall off bikes. They perform chases and gun shoot-outs, and set themselves alight.

Background Information

At 18 years of age, young filmmaker Jon Coley (born 29th July 1959) dreamt of becoming a professional stuntman, inspired by the work of Dr Who legend Derek Ware. Jon enlisted the help of his younger cousin Andrew Lloyd and his friend Brian Harding to create this showreel produced between the years 1974 and 1977. Jon can be seen here throwing himself out of windows, down stairs and embankments, performing gun chases, and even setting himself alight! Despite (at this time) his non-professional status, Jon avoided injury by wearing National Hunt Rider-style padding. All sequences were carefully choreographed and, coupled with snappy editing, the film showcases his talent for both filmmaking and performing. Coley's mother, Shirley, fully supported her son's endeavours, often acting as cameraperson when called upon. Scenes were filmed partly at the family home in Putnoe, Bedford and partly in Renhold, in Bedfordshire.
