Roll of Honour No. 2
1919 , Braintree (Essex)
Cat no. 226540
A roll of honour to the men of Braintree who served in World War I.
The second of two reels originally presented at the Palace Cinema, Braintree, Essex comprising a series of photographs honouring the men of Braintree who served during World War I. Many are formal studio portraits but some were taken in camp or at the Front. Those honoured served in various ranks across the whole of the armed services, from Grenadier Guards to members of the Royal Army Medical Corps. The film features group portraits with titles including 'The Happy Boys', whilst individual soldiers are identified by name and rank, with further details sometimes added, such as 'gassed', 'killed', 'wounded' or, in the case of many naval servicemen, the name of the ship on which they served.
