Background Information

Ben Culey filmed this local newsreel on a 16mm RCA camera which recorded the optical soundtrack as the film ran. He screened this and his other silent newsreels at the Palace Cinema he owned in Thetford as part of the programme. This newsreel began with Cat 225489 Thetford, Norfolk, 1937 - '[Armistice Sunday]' - Thetford Palace Sound News and continued with Cat 225492 Lakenheath, Suffolk, 1937 - '[Lakenheath Floods]' - Thetford Palace Sound News
