A rare experimental film by Norfolk-based artist Philippa Ruth Miller depicting the journey of a red balloon as it is carried by the wind from the filmmaker’s garden to a nearby coastline.

The film opens in a garden where a woman is seen blowing up balloons and tying them together. As the wind rises, the balloons fly out of the garden before becoming lodged in a tree. One of the balloons separates from the others and is blown around the garden and into the path of a cat resting under a tree. The cat plays with the balloon on the lawn before running out of shot. In the next sequence, the balloon is picked up by a child at the side of the road before being carried off again by the wind and almost ran over by a car. The balloon rises through the air and lands on a narrow country road where it lands in a river beside a raft of ducks. The river carries the balloon downstream, passing under a bridge and into the path of a pair of swans. The balloon is then picked up alongside the river back by a woman (Philippa Miller) who takes it back to her car. After driving to a location near the coast, the woman exits the car, leaving the balloon on the backseat with a small black poodle. The balloon escape through a crack in the window and is subsequently picked up again by the woman before being blown over a cliff onto the beach. Here, another woman (Frances Procter) holds the balloon by a string whilst the dog jumps in the air. Coming to rest in the water, the balloon moves in and out with the tide. The dog carries the balloon off again and finally bursts. At the end of the film, the dog is joined by another smaller poodle on the beach.
