[Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Regiments]

1920s , Bedford (Bedfordshire)

Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire local regiments returning to Bedford and the dedication of a memorial.

The Bedfordshire Regiment parades through the town led by children, adults, veterans and a band. Soldiers bearing arms are welcomed by the Lord Mayor at the Corn Exchange. The next event follows the 2nd Battalion, The Bedfordshires and Hertfordshires, on parade in front of the town’s dignitaries, then marching in their greatcoats bearing arms. There is no title for the final sequence which appears to be the dedication of a memorial. An army officer gives a speech and lays the mortar for the memorial stone. There are spectators, dignitaries, academics and clergy taking part in the ceremony.
